Ceiling lamp woven from electric cables. Kwangho brought lengths of electric cable from Korea and wove them into a ceiling lamp on site.
He has been making woven works using various daily use materials since 2006. Creating things by hand was a great joy as a child, which seems to be inherited from his grandfather who, a farmer himself, constantly hand-made daily household goods from natural materials found nearby. Kwangho appreciated the way he looked at everyday objects and thus began to approach things in a similar manner; to give new meaning and function to the most ordinary. In Kyoto, once he arrived at XCHANGE APARTMENTS, he felt out the scale and structure of the space, then decided on the shape and scale of the work. The lamp shifts its appearance according to where it is installed.

Stool woven from hay ropes. Kwangho found the traditional material here in Kyoto. The hay rope he used, is a genuine rope that is chosen for lashing the timbers of the floats at Gion Festival for over a millennium. This context encourages us to imagine further utility not confined only to a stool. This expands the possibilities and function of the apartment. This stool is a piece of furniture in the apartment, and is also available for sale in our web shop.
